Versions of Pragmatic Liberalism: from Rorty back to Dewey

Aim. The aim of this study is to analyze and evaluate two versions the theory liberalism which emerged within philosophical tradition pragmatism: Richard Rorty’s “ironic liberalism” John Dewey’s “renascent liberalism”.
 Methods. based on: 1) comparative analysis, shows differences points contact between classical pragmatism neo-pragmatism, in particular, different their liberal theories; 2) critical made it possible identify shortcomings advantages arguments above-mentioned philosophers.
 Results. author analyzed theories relation reality, human specificity, ethics. In way, specific views these American philosophers on such issues as relationship private public, main goals politics, values social order were explicated. It allowed offering a thorough critique liberalism”, supporting Conclusion.
